If a child has been injured, the time limit for making a claim normally does not start until their 18th birthday. (However, you dont have to wait until then to start a claim.) Someone under 18 cannot take legal action in their own right, but must have a 'litigation friend'. This could be:
- a close relative;
- an adult friend;
- a social worker; or
- someone else appointed by the court.
